Bradley.tv was asked to provide 45 units operating simultaneously in 45 separate locations for the brand Guinness to play a Pub Quiz type game in pub outlets in both Northern and Southern Ireland. For the first time in any promotion, the Backpacks interactive functionality was used to intrigue and involve the Target Audience.
Campaign Objectives:
Create interest and trial of Guinness amongst a younger Audience in 45 specially selected pubs throughout, Ireland. Support the Irish 6 nations Rugby Team and connect Guinness with the 6 Nations Championship.
Campaign Solution:
Bradley.tv created an interactive Pub quiz video which was played on the screens. Over 200 video files were loaded onto the units, together with Questions and Answers. Two promotional people worked in each pub, one wore the screen and the other operated the remote control from the screen, and interacted with the Pub Audience. As the Pair of promotion people entered the pub, the promotional video looped constantly, creating excitement and intrigue amongst the audience. The Promotional team then invited groups of people to play the “Roar them on Guinness” promotion. Using the remote control, the Promotions person selected a set of questions from the file, and the audience was invited to play the game.
Using a zoom out technique, the video played rugby action and the audience was invited to guess the answer of the question that appeared on the screen. Using the remote control the operator was able to interact with the screen, pause the action, and then display the answer at the right moment. If the people playing the game guessed correctly then they were rewarded with a free pint of Guinness.
Campaign Reactions:
As soon as the TV Backpacks entered the pub, they created a huge stir. People were literally crowding around to see what was going on, and in some instances people were lining up to play the game. People said spontaneously that they thought that the screens were great and that the idea was really fun. Clearly the Backpacks had the effect of connecting the Audience with the Guinness brand and stimulating trial.
Client Comments:
The Client visited several outlets to view the promotion and was very happy with the way that Backpacks created a stir and attention for the Brand. The following comments were received back from the Guinness Client: “Hi All, Please see attached some pics from the Roar Them On Promo in Myos on Friday. Overall, the night was a great success. There was a huge amount of interest in the Backpacks with alot of consumers wondering what it was all about. It was observed that some consumers were purchasing Guinness to make sure they got to play, a huge plus for you. The fact that the staff were there for two hours meant that everyone in the pub who wanted to have a go, got to play. As you will see from the pictures, consumers really did enjoy the promotion and it did enhance the overall rugby experience as the pub was well decked out with visibility. The staff were very professional and well able to handle themselves in one tricky situation. They seemed to really enjoy running the promotion which meant there was a really positive vibe around the whole thing. It’s definitely worth going out to have a look! We would like to repeat this promotion in May… I’ll be in touch soon. Kind Regards, Louise”.
Bradley.tv recently supplied T-Mobile with 15 x TV Backpacks with pre-installed footage to help them launch the new Google G1 Android mobile phone. Units were deployed on highstreets nationwide and attracted a huge amount of attention. Promotional teams used the screens to great affect and in some stores phones we also linked to the screens to show new features in action. In one store we played an episode of Top Gear by streaming it direct from BBC iPlayer via the phone and it was then transposed to the BackPacks using a simple Video IN connection. Once again the TV Backpacks prove themselves to be the ultimate promotional campaign.
